Green Talks 2023
Join us at our 8th Annual Green Talks.

ABOUT GREEN TALKS: It all began with an idea to host an event featuring a variety of speakers presenting on their work, experiences, and vision for a more sustainable future. The Inter-Sustainability Council and the Student Sustainability Collective organized the first Green Talks, a TED-talk style event in 2016 during UC San Diego's Celebration of Earth Month aimed to engage and promote the importance of being environmentally conscious through one’s actions. The tradition continued, even virtually through the pandemic. This April, we celebrate being able to host this signature event once again in person. Six speakers will present 15 minutes each followed by a speaker panel Q&A session.

Climate Conversations Camping Trip
SPRING INTO THIS ULTIMATE EARTH MONTH ADVENTURE APRIL 15-16 IN ANZA BORREGO DESERT. Come explore a slot canyon, discover an intriguing oasis of palms in the desert, uncover the evidence of a gigantic ancient lake, indulge in delicious Smores around a campfire with new friends and the Sustainability Ambassadors, learn about UC Climate Policy, enjoy a night sky of stars far from the city lights, and much more. This trip is guided by UCSD Outback Adventures, the Sustainability Ambassadors, and Scripps Professor Emeritus Jeff Severinghaus, who will be leading exploration of the environment and climate change on this ultimate fun adventure! Green Talks Art Contest
Green Talks is holding an art contest!
Green Talks, our annual TED Talk-style conference, is holding an art contest in which all submitted art will be displayed in our art gallery. When you enter your creation into the Green Talks Art Contest you get the chance to win $75 worth of sustainable art supplies of your choice*.
The theme is Imagining Our Green Future! Create a painting, photo, collage, sculpture, or any artwork that showcases how you imagine a more sustainable future.
We request but do not require that art be made with recycled materials or that the work itself be recyclable.
Max Dimensions should be about the size of a microwave (24in x 24in x 24in)
Drop off your art piece at the Sustainability Resource Center:
Mon-Thur from 1-4 PM
The Craft Center will host crafty hours on April 11 & 12 from 6 pm to 8pm. This is a great opportunity to use recyclable materials to create your master artwork for the contest!
